It's part of the workflow with sketching and is a time saver when you need to get a quick sketch done. A good example would be the ability to select a graphical symbol (such as a part of a logo) and have it automatically create a hatch pattern around the selection. I am asking what the status is on developing this type of functionality in the software.
Even if they decide to offer a way to graphically create your own hatch patterns, I think it would be a good idea for them to have the ability to generate patterns based on geometry that is selected. A huge piece of that is generating hatch patterns and Autodesk are not the only company offering that either. Sure there are lots of other things that could be implemented in the software but I think that this one feature would make Autodesk 3D more desirable than other (non-Autodesk) 3D software. I think it would be helpful to have such capability built into the software since it is what the users will be doing with the program. As a general rule of thumb you should be able to get a good estimate of the hatch pattern by knowing what geometry you are going for.
